Ropheka Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre has been part of the Seremban community since 8 August 1988.
Our story began when Madam Sara Premkumar recognised a need for accessible private physiotherapy services in Seremban at a time when awareness of physiotherapy and rehabilitation was still developing locally.
Rather than establishing her practice in a larger city, she chose to serve the community in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
What started as Seremban Physiotherapy Centre has since grown and evolved into Ropheka Physiotherapy & Sports Injury Centre — but our purpose has remained much the same: to provide thoughtful, personalised physiotherapy that helps people move better, regain function and return to the lives they want to lead.
Today, Ropheka continues that journey under the leadership of Madam Sara Premkumar and her daughter, Rebecca Premkumar, bringing together decades of experience with a modern, active approach to rehabilitation.
Physiotherapy has evolved. Rehabilitation has evolved. And so have the needs and expectations of our patients.
Ropheka has evolved with them.
Over the years, we have cared for people across different generations, occupations and stages of life — from individuals dealing with everyday muscle and joint pain to athletes returning to sport, employees with work-related conditions, people recovering after surgery and those living with neurological or mobility challenges.
As demand for our services grew, Ropheka expanded beyond Negeri Sembilan with the opening of a branch in Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya, on 4 April 2004.
Through every stage of our journey, however, Seremban has remained our home and the heart of Ropheka.
We are proud that patients and families from Seremban and across Negeri Sembilan have entrusted us with their care over the years — in some cases across generations.
Our approach to physiotherapy today combines the knowledge gained from decades of clinical practice with current, evidence-informed rehabilitation principles.
We believe good physiotherapy begins by understanding the person — not simply treating a diagnosis.
That is why we take time to assess your condition, understand how it affects your everyday life and identify what you would like to return to doing.
Depending on your needs, rehabilitation may include hands-on treatment, exercise therapy, movement retraining, education, pain management strategies and progressive strengthening.
Most importantly, we want you to understand your recovery.
Rather than creating dependence on treatment, our goal is to give you the knowledge, confidence, tools and support to take an active role in your rehabilitation.
Our physiotherapy team works with a broad range of conditions affecting muscles, joints, nerves, movement and physical function.
This includes back and neck pain, joint and muscle problems, sports injuries, sprains and strains, repetitive and overuse injuries, work-related musculoskeletal conditions, post-surgical rehabilitation and neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury and spinal cord injury.
Our services have also evolved to support people at different stages of life through areas including sports rehabilitation, paediatric physiotherapy, women’s health, geriatric rehabilitation, home physiotherapy, ergonomics and workplace rehabilitation.
Whatever brings someone through our doors, the principle remains the same:
Understand the individual. Assess thoroughly. Treat appropriately. Rehabilitate with purpose.
Over the years, we have had the privilege of providing physiotherapy and rehabilitation support to athletes and sporting organisations across different levels of competition.
Our experience has included working with the Negeri Sembilan Football Team, corporate football teams, state athletic squads and athletes associated with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
The same principles we apply to competitive sport also guide the way we treat recreational athletes and active individuals: understand the demands of the activity, identify what is limiting performance or recovery, progressively rebuild physical capacity and work towards a safe return to participation.
Because whether someone’s goal is returning to competitive sport, getting back to the gym or simply being able to walk comfortably again, their goal matters to us.
At the heart of Ropheka’s story is its founder, Madam Sara Premkumar, whose career in physiotherapy spans more than four decades.
Her commitment to patient care and rehabilitation laid the foundation on which Ropheka was built.
Today, that foundation continues through the next generation, with Rebecca Premkumar joining Madam Sara in leading Ropheka forward.
Together with our physiotherapy and support team, they continue to develop the centre while preserving the values that have shaped it from the beginning — personal care, professional integrity, continuous learning and a genuine commitment to the people we serve.
For us, moving forward does not mean forgetting where we came from.
It means building on it.
Our mission is to provide high-quality, personalised and accessible physiotherapy and rehabilitation that places each patient’s individual needs, goals and quality of life at the centre of their care.
We aim to combine thorough assessment, clinical experience and evidence-informed rehabilitation to help our patients improve movement, restore function and participate more confidently in the activities that matter to them.
Beyond treatment, we want to help people better understand their bodies and empower them to become active participants in their own recovery.
Our vision is to continue building on the foundations established in Seremban in 1988 while contributing to the advancement and awareness of quality physiotherapy in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia and beyond.
As Ropheka grows, we want to remain connected to the communities that have supported us throughout our journey.
We envision physiotherapy being recognised not simply as something people seek after an injury, but as an important part of rehabilitation, movement, healthy ageing, injury management and long-term physical well-being.
Above all, we want Ropheka to continue being a place where clinical experience, progressive rehabilitation and genuinely personal care come together.
More than three decades after opening our doors, we remain grateful to call Seremban home.
Our name has changed. Our team has grown. Physiotherapy has evolved.
But the reason we are here remains remarkably simple:
to help people move better, recover with confidence and get back to the things that matter to them.
Whether you’re managing pain, recovering from an injury or surgery, returning to sport, improving mobility or looking for guidance on your next step, our team is here to support you.
